Since I was younger I have always been a fan of riding bikes but one thing that made me nervous was rippin' down the street at night, worried about cars seeing me (or not). The Solution: a new project called 'Aura.' The brainchild of two young engineers, Ethan Frier & Jonathan Ota, industrial design students at Carnegie Mellon University noticed the risks of biking in urban areas and wanted to make a product that would make riders more noticable, mainly addressing the dangers of night time cycling accidents. Check out the Trailer for 'Project Aura' below:
'Project Aura' is a bicycle lighting system designed to address the issue of night time urban bike commuting. The system challenges the current paradigm of bike lighting by rethinking what the purpose of a bike lighting system really is. LEDs are embedded in the rims of the bike that change colors based on how fast you ride and are self-powered by a front hub dynamo.
This product not only looks cool but was created as a functional safety lighting system that caters to a riders demands of being seen more visably in the afternoon / night time hours.

... not for nothin' but i'd love whippin' a bike around with these throughout the summer.
